Endemic goiter is one of the large-spread diseases in the world, including Azerbaijan. In some regions of the Republic, this disease among the 8-14-aged reaches 98-100%, in the non-endemic areas – 77-86%. The min reason is deficit of iodine in the organism. Production and sale of the non-iodinated salt was not eventually banned in the Republic.

Representatives of the ‘Nur’ Children and Youth Public Association with the promotion of UNICEF, started to implement appropriate measures in 16 regions. They have recently been in the hospitals, hygienic and epidemiology center of the Agsu region, met with the public figures, distributed relevant materials to raise awareness of the population.
