COE HOLDS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RIGHTS OF CHILDREN
At the opening of Conference, chaired by Princess of Hanover Caroline, addressing was the Minister of State of Monaco Jean-Paul Proust, deputy secretary general of the Council of Europe Boer-Buciccio who noted necessity of solving the problems of children in region and ensuring their rights, spoke of activity of the Council of Europe in this sphere.
At plenary sitting, Prince Caroline, officials of CoE and Commissioner on Human Rights of this Organization Thomas Hammerberg made statement. Regional director of UNICEF on the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, CIS and Baltic, Ms. Maria Kalivis and president of the European Ombudsmen Network Paul Yaros, addressing the participants of Conference, called to unite efforts to solve problems of the children.
Then, a three-year program adopted at the summit of the heads of state and governments of COE member countries, was presented.
Renowned international experts, specialists in the field of law, representatives of appropriate departments of COE, UN officials and others delivered lectures on the topic.
