Congressman praises US-Azerbaijan partnership in ensuring energy security
Baku, July 1 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to the United States Yashar Aliyev has stressed the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
Aliyev discussed prospects of the Azerbaijan-US relations with the chairman of the House of Representatives subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia Dan Barton.
Aliyev highlighted economic and social reforms in Azerbaijan, major regional energy and transport projects, the country`s role in ensuring energy security of Europe and the United States, as well as Azerbaijan`s contribution to international peacekeeping operations.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador stressed successful economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Particularly, he mentioned the contract with Boeing on supply of civil airplanes and construction of the first telecommunication satellite by US Orbital Science Corporation.
Barton praised partnership between the two countries in provision of energy security, thanked Azerbaijan for contribution to fighting international terrorism and support of efforts of the international community in stabilizing situation in Afghanistan.
The fact of growing interest in the Congress toward Azerbaijan was mentioned during the talk. In this view, ambassador Aliyev stressed that the number of the working group members on Azerbaijan is growing. In the past month, two congressmen-Kinzinger from Illinois and Yang from Indiana joined the working group.
