Cristiano Ronaldo ignores Michel Platini
Baku, December 22, AZERTAC
Cristiano Ronaldo snubbed Michel Platini as Real Madrid picked up the FIFA World Club Cup trophy on Saturday night.
The La Liga and Champions League winners beat San Lorenzo 2-0 in Morocco thanks to goals from Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale.
And when the moment came for Ronaldo to shake hands with the FIFA and UEFA delegation charged with handing over the winners’ medals and trophy - including Platini - he wasn’t for hanging around: Ronaldo ignoring Platini may come after the UEFA president insisted the FIFA Ballon d’Or award should go to a player who has won the World Cup.
Ronaldo is in the top three for the award alongside Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich goalie Manuel Neuer.
But the Madrid forward is the favourite to land the gong after hitting 61 goals in 60 appearances.
And with Sepp Blatter also failing to endear himself to Ronaldo, it perhaps comes as no shock that he refused to shake Platini’s hand.
