Baku, July 28 (AZERTAC). Head of the Information Policy Department and presidential press service of Dagestan Garun Kurbanov has been killed in Makhachkala, the republic`s Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.

According to a ministry source, unidentified perpetrators opened fire on the Toyota Camry car with Kurbanov at about 08:15 MSK, Thursday, in Mantashev Street. The official and his driver were killed.

An investigative team is working at the crime scene. The Vulcan-3 interception plan has been activated in the city for tracking down the criminals.

The search operation for criminals is underway.

The republic`s Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass that the Toyota Camry car in which they were riding came under fire at about 08:15 MSK on Thursday in Mantashev Street. Kurbanov and his driver died of gunshot wounds.

No other details of the incident have been available so far.
