Dangerous heat wave forecast for half the country
Baku, July 18 (AZERTAC). A scorching weekend across the Plains and upper Midwest — including 100-degree temperatures and withering humidity from Texas to South Dakota— was a feel of what`s forecast to be a dangerous heat wave across most of the central and eastern USA.
Some of the warmest temperatures so far this summer are forecast this week for the big cities along the Interstate 95 corridor in the East, AccuWeather meteorologist Bill Deger says.
"New York, Philadelphia and Washington could approach 100 degrees, with temperatures sure to feel much warmer than what the thermometer reads," he says.

For residents of the Plains and upper Midwest, the heat has already been unbearable — and even deadly this summer.
As temperatures climbed into the 90s in Steele, N.D., on Sunday, a small window air conditioner in Paul and Betty Smokov`s ranch home couldn`t keep up. "It`s 82 in the house," Betty Smokov said. "The heat is really oppressive and sticky."
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says there have been 618 emergency-room visits for heat-related illnesses this summer. There have been two confirmed heat deaths in St. Louis and nine suspected deaths in the Kansas City area.
