`Davos - city of economy forums, Baku - place of grandiose cultural events`
Baku, April 11 (AZERTAC). “Davos is known as a city of economic forums thought the world, while Baku is a place of grandiose cultural events, said first deputy general director of ITAR-TASS news agency of Russia Mikhail Gusman, who participated in the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.
Mr. Gusman said there is a reason for conducting this forum in Baku, because Azerbaijan is a center of world culture during the many years. The world`s eminent workers of culture always stress an attitude to the world cultural heritage in Baku.
He said the representatives of different nations feel calmness in Azerbaijan as a multicultural country. He said President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues traditions laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev on conducting of the large-scale cultural events in Baku.
Mr. Gusman hailed speech by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva at the opening ceremony of the forum. He said UNESCO praises an activity of the first lady of Azerbaijan in development of science, culture, education and health.
On Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr. Gusman said this problem must be solved and occupied territories of Azerbaijan released.
The government of Russia, especially President Dmitry Medvedev exerts every effort in resolution of this problem.
