Day of Azerbaijan held in Stockholm
Baku, May 11 (AZERTAC). Day of Azerbaijan dedicated to the 88th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev and the 20th anniversary of the country`s independence was held in Stockholm, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Sweden said.
The Day featured music performances by Azeri musicians.
A special reception was organized on the Republic Day of Azerbaijan, 28 May.
Day of Azerbaijan passed in the Stockholm City Hall (Stadshuset) which is one of the best examples of modern architecture in Europe.
The event was attended by officials of the Kingdom of Sweden, parliamentarians, intellectuals, businessmen, historians, orientalists, local public figures, representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan Rafael Ibrahimov spoke of the lifetime and political activity of the great Azerbaijani leader, his merits for statehood of Motherland.
The diplomat noted latest accomplishments of the Republic in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields under the presidency of incumbent head of state Ilham Aliyev.
