DAYS OF RUSSIAN CINEMA OPENED IN BAKU
Having welcomed the guests, Abulfaz Qarayev, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, said the Days of Russian cinema are held in the frameworks of the Year of Russian Federation in Azerbaijan, to be opened tomorrow.
The Minister expressed hope that, the filmmakers can participate to accomplish greater bilateral cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia.
For his part, Mikhail Shvydkoy, Director of the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography of Russia, said he is happy to have his first official meeting with Abulfaz Qarayev - new Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan- in Baku and during this event dedicated to the cinema.
Mikhail Shvydkoy stressed the importance of the traditions of Azerbaijani cinema for Russia.
“Today Azerbaijani authors, directors, scenario writers and literati are broadly represented in Russia. I think this is very important for us”, he said.
On the first day, the Baku citizens watched “The 9th company” by Fedor Bondarchuk.
They will also have a chance to watch “Anna” by Vladimir Dolinskiy and Eugeniy Ginsburg, and “I adore you” by Kazakh director Quseyn Erkenov.
