DEFENSE MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN ON PROBABILITY OF NATO MILITARY BASES IN AZERBAIJAN
Defense Minister of Azerbaijan colonel general Safar Abiyev stated at the press conference held at the “Interfax” News Agency that the political leadership of Azerbaijan would probably consider deployment of the NATO military bases in Azerbaijan, AzerTAj correspondent reports. “I express my own opinion on the possibility to made such a decision. However, I cannot rule out the possibility of considering this issue by Azerbaijani government. I do not know what the decision will be”, the Minister stressed.
Answering the question, the Defense Minister added that nothing could be excluded now. “The situation is changing every month: if you remember they said that there would not be military bases in Azerbaijan but they appeared. Taking all this into consideration, I expressed my opinion that the possibility of considering this issue exists. Nothing can be excluded now”, - Safar Abiyev concluded.
