Discovery Science Channel aired program on ambitious construction projects in Baku
Baku, May 1 (AZERTAC). Build it Bigger/Extreme Engineering" program dedicated to Azerbaijan was aired on the Discovery Science Channel from April 22 through April 24, 2011.
Entitled "Azerbaijan`s Amazing Transformation", the program featured two ambitious construction projects currently carried out in Baku, namely the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center and Flame Towers, as well as the Flag Square.
"After decades of Soviet occupation, Azerbaijan is reinventing itself. With a $6 billion a year renovation and 500 new developments, Danny Forster goes behind the scenes of Baku`s construction projects: the Flame Towers and Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center," announces the Discovery Science Channel.
"By design, the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center is a statement about indigenous culture, about the culture that arises from a place, rather than being imposed upon it. Azerbaijanis clearly intend to locate their national character, and this center will be an incredible place to start looking," writes the program`s producer and host Daniel Forster in his web page.
"Three miles to the southwest, another mind-blowing development: the Flame Towers. This stunning $350 million trio of towers is designed to look like a series of flames, symbolizing Azerbaijan`s long tradition of fire worship. Rising nearly 800 feet, the Flame Towers will be among the tallest skyscrapers in the country... If the team succeeds, Baku will reinvent its image and emerge as the world`s next iconic city," annotates the Discovery Science Channel.
