“Election process in Azerbaijan marks progress”
Baku, February 12 (AZERTAC). “The November 2010 parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan marked another step forward,” Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov said at a meeting with OSCE PA Vice-President Wolfgang Grossruck.
Ogtay Asadov noted European integration is a priority of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy. Baku places high priority on development of relationship with OSCE and its agencies. The Vice-Speaker noted some forces seek to prevent the country from accepting European values, adding some OSCE officials, unfortunately, let such things happen with their biased position. From this point of view, reports prepared by some structures are partial and untrue.
Asadov noted Azerbaijan, which occupies a special role in the European energy security system and chosen the Euroatlantic integration path, deserves unbiased and impartial attitude.
Grossruck pointed out OSCE wants to promote democracy in the countries where it observes elections. According to him, exchange of views among delegations is necessary to shape a common opinion on the processes.
