EU SATISFIED WITH PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
The European Union acknowledged progress over previous elections in Azerbaijan. In accordance with preliminary conclusions, the voting was generally well administered in most polling stations. The EU assessed the presidential elections in Azerbaijan as significant efforts towards international standards.
The EU expressed its best wishes to the newly elected President, together with the hope that he will lead the country on the base of genuinely democratic principles and values.
The Union encourages as well the President to commit himself to the resumption of the peace process for the settlement of the conflict opposing Armenia and Azerbaijan.
