EU supports Azerbaijan in Social Protection, Occupational Health and Safety area
Baku, April 25 (AZERTAC). The European Union is launching an 18 month project aiming at enhancing the enforcement of occupational health and safety legislation in order to improve social protection in Azerbaijan. The project will provide assistance to the Service on Occupational Health and Safety, under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, and will strengthen the capacity of the State Labour Inspectorate.
The European Union will make available AZN 1 million for this twinning project which will be implemented by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Family and Health of the Federal State Hesse. The EU twinning instrument is conceived as an instrument for cooperation to assist countries in strengthening their capacity to implement EU legislation. It is designed as a pragmatic tool to contribute to the gradual reshaping of administrative structures through the transfer of knowledge on EU legislation, standards and practices. The tool allows the establishment of a strong and result-oriented relationship between similar governmental bodies or institutions in the EU member states and the beneficiary country.
