Farid Shafiyev: Azerbaijan is not responsible for tensions with Russia

Baku, September 9, AZERTAC

“Azerbaijan is not responsible for tensions with Russia. We know very well that this problem began in December, after our civilian aircraft was downed by Russian air defense forces,” Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations, told journalists.

Highlighting other incidents, Farid Shafiyev noted: “The events in Yekaterinburg, the massive cyberattack on Azerbaijan in February, the bombing of SOCAR depots in Ukraine, and others demonstrate that the other side is not considering de-escalation.”

“We expect adequate steps to be taken. If this happens, the situation will most likely improve,” Shafiyev added.
