FBI Director Christopher Wray defends agency after Trump`s attacks

FBI Director Christopher Wray defended his work force in an email on Monday, a day after President Trump said on Twitter that the agency’s standing was the “worst in History” and its reputation was in “Tatters.”
In a message to the FBI`s 35,000 agents and support staff that was provided to The New York Times, Mr. Wray said that he was “inspired by example after example of professionalism and dedication to justice demonstrated around the bureau. It is truly an honor to represent you.” He did not mention Mr. Trump by name. Wray told the House Judiciary Committee his agents work hard "protecting the American people and upholding the rule of law in all 50 states and in about 80 countries around the world." "Let me start by saying that it is for me the honor of a lifetime to be here representing the men and women of the FBI," he said. "There is no finer institution than the FBI and no finer people than the men and women who work there and are its very beating heart."
The president`s criticism was among several recent indications of his fury over the Justice Department investigation into links between his campaign and Russia. He accused F.B.I. agents of unfair treatment of Michael T. Flynn, his former national security adviser, who pleaded guilty last week to lying to the FBI In another weekend tweet, Mr. Trump said he fired Mr. Flynn for doing so.
