First lady Mehriban Aliyeva meets People`s Artist Alibaba Mammadov

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijani first lady Mehriban Aliyeva has met People’s Artist Alibaba Mammadov on the occasion of his 85th anniversary.

The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has recently initiated the launch of a new album highlighting Alibaba Mammadov`s life and activity.

Mehriban Aliyeva described Alibaba Mammadov as a person who knows “the subtleties of folk music and Azerbaijani classical poetry”. She said the album features a book about Alibaba Mammadov`s life and creative activity, musical notations of his songs and tasnifs, and 4 CDs of folk songs, tasnifs and mughams performed by the singer.

The first lady said Alibaba Mammadov played a tremendous role in preserving and developing the traditions of Azerbaijani national mugham school.

People`s Artist Alibaba Mammadov thanked first lady Mehriban Aliyeva for the attention and care. He praised Mehriban Aliyeva`s role in preserving, developing and promoting Azerbaijani mugham.
