FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS WITH EU REPRESENTATIVE FOR SOUTH CAUCASUS

On January 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vilayat Guliyev met with EU delegation led by special representative for the South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie now visiting Azerbaijan, press-service of Foreign Affairs Ministry reports. Minister Guliyev stressed the rapid development of the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, and necessity for further expansion of the cooperation.

The Minister dwelt on prospects of relations with Georgia, the neighboring country on the Southern Caucasus, economic projects being implemented within the framework of the regional cooperation, as well as the work being done for resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Garabakh conflict.

Heikki Talvitie noted that EU attaches a great significance to further development of relationship with Azerbaijan and stands for intensifying the operation. Touching on Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Garabakh, Mr. Talvitie expressed hoped for its fair settlement due to the joint efforts by the international community.

The parties have discussed other issues of mutual interest.
