GEORGIA: DOUBLE CITIZENSHIP IS BOTH ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL PROBLEM

In Tbilisi, it has been discussed for a long time the question of double citizenship. The local experts suggest that the said issue should be comprehensively studied, and be taken in to consideration a number of factors, because the issue is connected with the political, economic and social problems.

It is known that several citizens of Georgia leave for foreign countries to better their material status. While going, they violate the laws of the country of interim stay and of Georgia as well. The increasing facts worry politicians. Say, if ten years ago in Georgia there lived 5,6 million people, and now population of the country numbers 4,4 million.

At the opinion of MR of Georgia, Hamlet Chipashvili, quick settlement of this question would have prevented all forms of violation of laws. The Deputy offers to learn public opinion in this issue.

The renowned jurist David Usupashvili suggests that this is a significant item, requiring deep study and it should not be regarded merely.

The Georgians residing in the United States and France also have raised the issue of double citizenship.
