A ceremony of signing the Agreement “On Institutional Aid to Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism of Azerbaijan for Poverty Reduction and Efficient Development of Domestic Tourism /2004-2005/” between the Government of Azerbaijan and United Nations Development Organization was held at the National Olympic Committee. The document was signed by Minister of Youth, Sport and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev and UN Resident-Coordinator in Azerbaijan Marco Borsotti.

The project implies establishment of tourist information centers and holding trainings for specialists of the Ministry and relevant structures, educational courses for young people from needy families, in 7 regions of the country: Shaki, Shamakha, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran and Gyanja.

According to the project coordinator Firudin Gurbanov, the main goal of the mentioned centers is to provide tourists with necessary information and prepare promotional materials.

The project’s budget makes up $240 thousand.
