HALF OF BULGARIA`S GAS SUPPLY MAY COME FROM AZERBAIJAN
Baku, August 13 (AZERTAC). Bulgartransgaz is developing two different routes, the one being through Turkey and the other - across the Black Sea to transport the gas.
Bulgaria may secure as much as 50% of its natural gas consumption with supplies from Azerbaijan.
The project may become operational not earlier than in 2013, Bulgartransgaz Director Ivan Drenovichki said. A meeting of a Bulgarian-Azeri working group was held in the capital, Baku, on Tuesday. The experts discussed the options for shipping compressed natural gas to Bulgaria with the participation of Bulgartransgaz, SOCAR and the Shah Deniz consortium, represented by Statoil, BP and Total. After the construction of a necessary infrastructure, Bulgaria will be receiving two billion cubic meters of natural gas a year.
