The aim of the mission’s visit is to get acquitted with the run-up to the 13 May parliamentary re-election in Azerbaijan and examine the observance of COE relevant recommendations, head of the pre-election observation mission of the COE Ad Hoc Committee Leo Platvoet said. According to him, democratization is a continuously running process and it is impossible to achieve it at once. Azerbaijan is taking important steps to implement Venice Commission recommendations. If COE proposals are considered it will be possible to conduct democratic elections, he added.
