Heydar Aliyev Foundation organizes another ‘Azerbaijani night’ in Germany
Cologne, November 21 (AZERTAC). The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has organized another "Azerbaijani night" in Cologne, supported by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany. The program included two exhibitions and a concert of the Azerbaijani State Chamber Orchestra.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany Parviz Shahbazov thanked participants of the event. Noting that Azerbaijan is a leading state of the Caucasus in terms of political and economic indicators, the Ambassador said that the country has a rich culture. He thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its President Mehriban Aliyeva for projects carried out to promote the cultural and historical richness of Azerbaijan in the world.
Noting that Azerbaijani mugham art has been included to the UNESCO cultural heritage list, the Ambassador drew attention to the fact that Nagorno-Karabakh, which is the motherland of the Azerbaijani music, has been occupied for over 20 years by the Armenian armed forces, as a result of which over one million people became refugees and internally displaced persons.
Host of the event, well-known German TV host Joe Fechner, ahead of the concert program, said that the first parliament in the East was established in Azerbaijan in 1918, and Azerbaijan gave to women the right to vote ahead of European countries. Then, the host spoke about projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation realized in other countries.
The event continued with the performance of the Gara Garayev Azerbaijani State Chamber Orchestra. Conducted by Fuad Ibrahimov, the Orchestra performed pearls of the Azerbaijani music, including Fikrat Amirov`s "Dance of Joy", Niyazi`s "Rast" symphonic mugham, aria of Gulchohra from Uzayir Hajibayli`s "Arshin mal alan" operetta, Vasif Adigozalov`s" Elegy”, folk song "Sari gelin" and other songs.
At the event, the participants also had the opportunity to view the photo exhibition "Germans in Azerbaijan", which reflected the lifestyle of the Germans living in Goygel region of Azerbaijan. The event also featured another exhibition titled "Germany in the eyes of young painters", which reflected the German life in the eyes of young Azerbaijani painters who have never been in Germany.
The event participants were presented dishes from the Azerbaijani cuisine, different historical, cultural and art books published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and CDs of the Azerbaijani mugham, jazz, classic and pop music.
The "Azerbaijani night" will be also held in Hamburg on December 5.
