Houthis claim 37 Saudi airstrikes on Yemen in 24 hrs

Yemen's Houthi group said on Thursday that Saudi Arabia's warplanes had carried out 37 airstrikes on two Yemeni provinces over the past 24 hours, causing civilian casualties, as fighting between the Houthis and Yemen's government forces continued to intensify.
According to Xinhua, in a statement on social media platform X, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said Saudi F-15 fighter jets carried out the strikes in the southwestern province of Taiz and the northwestern province of Hajjah.
"Over the past 24 hours, Saudi warplanes carried out 37 airstrikes using F-15 aircraft that took off from Khamis Mushait Air Base," Sarea said, adding the strikes had killed and wounded civilians.
Sarea did not provide a detailed casualty toll.
There was no immediate comment from Saudi authorities.
The latest airstrikes came as fighting continued around the approaches to Bab al-Mandab, a strategic maritime chokepoint connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden, where Houthi and government forces are battling for control of key positions overlooking the waterway.
Yemen's conflict erupted in late 2014 when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of northern Yemen, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
