Incoming UNICEF representative commends Azerbaijan`s children and youth policy

Newly appointed representative of UNICEF to Azerbaijan Edward Carwardine has commended “substantial” progress achieved by Azerbaijan in the children and youth policy as he presented his letter of credence to Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. He said UNICEF hailed its cooperation with the Azerbaijani government. Carwardine underlined that the adoption of the UNICEF new Country Program 2016-2020 for Azerbaijan will define new perspectives of future cooperation.
The FM congratulated Carwardine on his appointment, and commended “fruitful” cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNICEF.
Minister Mammadyarov said ensuring the rights of children is considered as one of the priorities on the agenda of the Azerbaijani government. He emphasized the importance of paying due attention to the needs of IDP children in the activity of UNICEF in Azerbaijan.
FM Mammadyarov also provided an insight into the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan International Development Agency of the Foreign Ministry.
