INT’L SYMPOSIUM ON ANNIVERSARY OF AZERBAIJAN MUNICIPALITIES HELD
Opening the arrangement, organized by the Caucasus University jointly with the MM standing commission for regional issues and municipality trade unions of Azerbaijan, rector of the University, professor Erol Oral told on great merits of the eminent statesman Heydar Aliyev in creation and development of the municipalities in the independent Azerbaijan.
Speaking on success of Turkish municipalities, rector expressed his confidence that their experience would have significance for Azerbaijani municipalities and relations in that field to be developed.
In his speech, Chairman of the municipality trade unions of Azerbaijan Mehdi Salimzadeh stated that for today, 41 regional committees of this structure amalgamate over 13 thousand members.
Chairman of the MM standing commission for regional issue Zahid Garalov stressed the necessity of creation of the municipal system in the Republic and dwelt on legislation base of municipalities.
Head of the local municipalities organizations of Turkey’s Internal Ministry Kayhan Kavas, head of municipality Pendik Erol Kaya told on experience of the fraternal country.
The participants touched on successes, problems of functioning of municipalities in the country and tasks facing this structure saying that municipal elections will be held in 2004.
Then, debates related to the problems and prospects of municipalities were held.
