IRNA and AzerTAc seal deal on cooperation
Baku, April 5 (AZERTAC). The State Telegraph Agency of Azerbaijan (AZERTAC) and Iran`s IRNA news agency signed Tuesday an agreement on cooperation.
The agreement was signed for IRNA by its visiting Managing Director Ali-Akbar Javanfekr and for AZERTAC by Aslan Aslanov, Director General.
Director General of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov updated an Iranian delegation led by presidential advisor for press affair, IRNA Managing Director Ali-Akbar Javanfekr on the history and activity of the country`s official news agency founded in 1920.
The Director General touched on the country`s development after national leader Heydar Aliyev` returning to power, successes of Azerbaijan presided over by President Ilham Aliyev. Aslanov noted strengthening international positions of Azerbaijan enabled expansion of AZERTAC`s international ties.
The Director General highlighted the need for exchange of news between the agencies.
He underlined some Iranian TV channels and newspapers in Azerbaijan spread biased information in a bid to cast shadow to relations between the neighboring nations.
“We are sure AZERTAC-Irna ties will be very effective in terms of preventing such cases,” he said.
Javanfekr agreed with the need to exchange news between the agencies.
He expressed assurance the agreement would mark a new stage in cooperation between the two news agencies.
Under the accord, AZERTAC and Irna will exchange news, organize reciprocal visits of both agencies` staff and training courses.
