June Climate Meetings: SB62 Chairs laud COP29 Presidency’s efforts

The annual June Climate Meetings are well underway in Bonn, Germany, now entering their third day.
The meetings marked another success for Azerbaijani diplomacy as the final day saw the adoption of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) Agenda. A total of 197 UN member states reached consensus on the agenda’s text following intensive negotiations. In this context, the Chairs of SB62 commended the efforts of the COP29 Presidency.
The final text of the agenda was read out by Yalchin Rafiyev, Lead Negotiator for COP29.
The third day of the Climate Meetings will feature a number of key bilateral engagements and plenary discussions. Among them is a meeting between Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 President, and André Corrêa do Lago, COP30 President. Discussions will also focus on enhancing the mechanisms of the “From Baku to Belém Roadmap.”
Additionally, the day's agenda includes panel discussions featuring Leyla Hasanova, COP29 Youth Climate Champion, who provided an overview of youth-led initiatives and projects under Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency.
The June Climate Meetings will continue until June 26.
