‘Kyrgyzstan interested in all-round development of relations with Azerbaijan’
Baku, July 5 (AZERTAC). “Kyrgyzstan is interested in all-round development of relations with Azerbaijan,” Speaker of Kyrgyzstan`s parliament Akhmatbek Keldibekov said in a meeting with Azerbaijan`s Prime Minister Artur Rasizade.
The Azerbaijani Premier expressed hope the Kyrgyz speaker`s visit would contribute to further development of bilateral relations.
Rasizade said though political, cultural, humanitarian ties between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan were developing, bilateral economic and trade cooperation does not reflect the potential of the two countries. He underlined the importance of reviving the activity of Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Interparliamentary Commission for boosting economic ties.
Rasizade briefed Keldibekov on the energy sector and generally the economy of Azerbaijan. “The Azerbaijani government pays special attention to development of non-oil sector”, he added.
The Prime Minister also touched on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the ongoing negotiations process to settle the problem. He said as a result of Armenian aggression 1 million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs within their country. He also gave information about the progress made in his country to improve the living conditions of IDPs and refugees.
For his part, Keldibekov said a legal basis exists for development of economic relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. “As a result of the political processes happened in Kyrgyzstan over the past one year, development of those relations fell short of expectations”, he added.
The Kyrgyz speaker said his country supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and unanimously recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as part of the country.
