LAW “ON PUBLIC TELEVISION AND RADIO” FULLY MEETS EUROPEAN STANDARDS
Head of the working group drawn up the draft law, the Milli Majlis deputy Rizvan Jabiyev told AzerTaj correspondent that a number of fallacious views exist, such as “the public television will be created on the base of the state or one of the private channels”, “representatives of non-governmental organizations will not be allowed to appear on the television”, “allocation of financial resources” and “dissemination of official reports”. “All this rumors are groundless, because founding public television is the exclusive authority of the Head of State” he said.
As for the Article on dissemination of official reports on the public television has been drawn up in conformity with recommendation s of the Council of Europe and world experience. It says the reports presented by public authority are issued immediately and full-length.
This includes reports on natural calamities and official statements interpreting stance of the public authorities.
Besides, the document allows representatives of all non-governmental organizations to appear on the public television.
The Article concerning financial issues says the funds envisaged for the public television must ensure realization of not only objectives and prospects of the television but also its uninterrupted activity.
