LAYING WREATH ON TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER AT WASHINGTON SQUARE
Gathered at the Square, the Americans, including schoolchildren, watched visiting President of Azerbaijan at the national cemetery. The symbolic Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery represents the war grave of those unidentified soldiers who fell for freedom of country since establishment of the American state. Here, also have been buried soldiers died in military operations in Iraq.
President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath on Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Nineteen rifle volleys were fired to honor the visit of Azerbaijan President. And state anthems of Azerbaijan and USA were performed.
Then, the head of Azerbaijan state has familiarized with the Museum functioning here. Special interest was caused by a saber, presented to the Museum by the national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev during his first official visit to the USA in 1997.
President Ilham Aliyev made to the Museum a memorable gift.
