On December 2, Minister of Interior Affairs of Azerbaijan, General-Colonel Ramil Usubov met the Secretary General of the International human rights organization “Reporters San Frontiere” Robert Menar.

The Minister dwelt on positive processes taken place in the society within past years due to expedient policy of the leadership, successful reforms at the interior bodies, press-service of Interior Affairs Ministry reports.

Relations between police and journalists on the eve of Presidential elections in Azerbaijan, in the day of voting and within next days were in the focus.

The Minister stated that information on allegedly arrest of over 70 journalists, on October 16, who were subjected to violence and tortures is groundless, it purposes one aim – to confuse international public opinion. The Minister expressed his confidence that in the course of meetings with the representatives of government, the guest would have more object information.

The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
