MEETING OF PROTEST IN SABIRABAD
Opening the meeting, the head of executive authorities of the region Abulfaz Agayev stated: Presidential elections were held in our country on October 15, 2003, according to democratic, fair, transparent and civilized norms. A student of the political school of the great son and survivor of people of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev - Ilham Aliyev won the elections by majority of votes. People of Sabirabad trusted their future of a nominee who they believe and lays hopes, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
However, the opposition, not wishing to accept the choice of our people, having shows organization and activeness at the Presidential elections, proving in front of the international community that it has high political culture, organized disturbances for violating stability and peace. We condemn the actions of unbridled opposition and demand that they responded to the law for their actions.
A Milli Majlis member Rafael Gafarov said: Musavat members lead by Isa Gambar, who have taken destructive position from the very beginning and their supporters began disturbances in Baku, took an attempt of anarchy in the republic, to return people to the situation of 1992, to seize the authorities by all means. The actions of oppositional elements, who attacked police officers and soldiers, used stones, wooden and metal bars and others - this is a real act of vandalism.
Isa Gambar, Rauf Arifoglu, Igbal Agazadeh, Sardar Jalaloglu and other leaders of radical opposition encouraged these brutality and violation of the law. Bloodshed, violence, destruction took place before their eyes. They should respond for these crimes.
Another speakers expressed their protest against disturbances in Baku and illegal actions of opposition.
In conclusion, the meeting passed a statement on destructive actions of the opposition, demanding that law enforcement organs prohibited the activities of Musavat, took strict actions against political parties and public structures, members of Our Azerbaijan block, their leaders, to deprive them from offices and premises to use them for people, to cancel registration of provocation newspapers, instigating people to illegal actions, which tool hostile position towards the leaders of the republic and intelligentsia of Azerbaijan, to punish criminals according to the law; to take strict actions against elements aspirating to violate stability, for not allowing such facts again.
In conclusion, the statement read, “We people of Sabirabad call Azerbaijanis to be watchful, to resist the actions of low people, to unite closely round Ilham Aliyev”.
