Memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev honored at AZERTAC
Baku, May 8, AZERTAC
On May 8, an event was held at the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) to commemorate the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the National Leader’s memory.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC Vugar Aliyev stated that, as the founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, the National Leader played a crucial role not only in the political and economic spheres, but also in preserving and developing national and spiritual values, as well as the native language. Under his leadership, the Azerbaijani language was established as the state language in the Constitution, and a consistent policy was pursued to preserve its purity, enrich it, and pass it on to future generations. As a result of this attention and care, the Azerbaijani language continues to develop today as one of the key pillars of statehood.
The Chairman of the Board emphasized that the life path of the National Leader is a true example of patriotism, determination, and foresight. He highlighted that both during the Soviet era and the years of independence, Heydar Aliyev consistently defended the interests of the Azerbaijani people and laid a solid foundation for the country’s future development.
In particular, after returning to power in 1993 at the persistent demand of the people, National Leader Heydar Aliyev played a decisive role in preserving and strengthening Azerbaijan’s statehood. Political stability was established, and economic reforms were launched. The oil strategy implemented at the initiative of the National Leader laid the groundwork for Azerbaijan’s rapid economic growth and elevated the country to an important position on the international energy map. Furthermore, the steps taken toward building democratic institutions, strengthening the rule of law, developing the army, and ensuring national solidarity continue to yield results today.
“The strategic course defined by our National Leader is being successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev. Under the leadership of the head of state, our country is developing comprehensively and further strengthening its positions in the international arena. Projects implemented particularly in the fields of urban planning, infrastructure, and sustainable development contribute to Azerbaijan’s emergence as a modern and dynamic state. In this regard, the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku in the coming days, is of great significance,” said Vugar Aliyev.
In conclusion, the memory of the National Leader was once again honored with deep respect, and confidence was expressed that the rich legacy of the prominent statesman will continue to guide the Azerbaijani people toward new achievements.
