Baku, September 14 (AZERTAC). Moldova`s health minister Andrey Usatiy has said that funding is the most urgent problem for all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

“Financing is the biggest problem in increasing the effectiveness of the struggle against the spread of the most dangerous diseases in the European region,” Usatiy told the 61st session of the World Health Organization`s Regional Committee for Europe, which is continuing in Baku.

“Funding is what defines the structure and strategy of our activity. This is why we have to seek for funding for priority branches of healthcare.”

Representatives from the 53 member states in the WHO European Region are discussing issues including development of the new European policy for health; governance of health in the 21st century; the health divide: European experiences in addressing the social determinants of health; strengthening of health systems in the WHO European Region, including a framework for strengthening public health capacities and services in Europe and the interim report on implementation of the Tallinn Charter and the way forward; action plans on noncommunicable diseases, alcohol, antibiotic resistance, multidrug-resistant/extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS; a strategy on the WHO Regional Office for Europe`s relations with countries; and a policy on WHO/Europe`s geographically dispersed offices and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies; WHO reform for a healthy future and others.
