MUNICIPALITIES OF BORDER REGIONS TO COOPERATE WITHOUT INTRUSION OF CENTRAL POWERS
Discussed were issues of approval of the European Framework Convention “On trans-border cooperation between the territorial units and local authorities” and its Additional protocol, as well as introduction of partly amendments to the administrative-territorial division of several regions.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan joins this Convention with a special statement and on certain terms, Chairman of the commission Zahid Garalov told AzerTAj correspondent. According to this document, municipalities of separate regions of the Country without intrusion of central powers can create contacts with the local authorities of the bordering republics. Azerbaijan can have such contacts with its neighbors – Turkey, Russia, Georgia and Iran. In the statement, it is said that Azerbaijan would not have any contact with Armenia, as this state does not refrain of its aggressive policy.
Then, discussed was the issue of changes in the administrative-territorial division related to the regions Aghsy, Ismailli, Saatli, Terter and Yardimli regions.
