Nakhchivan State University, Xinjiang University launch cooperation

An official meeting was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, to expand cooperation between Nakhchivan State University and Xinjiang University of China.
Ma Xinbin, President of Xinjiang University; Shawulie Yimahazi, Vice-President; Tian Xin, Deputy Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation; as well as Zinati Abulikemu, Deputy Director of the Urumqi Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, and staff member Huang Jiawen attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the parties held extensive discussions on areas of cooperation of mutual interest. Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev provided detailed information on the university’s activities, with particular emphasis on its international partnerships.
At the initial stage, the parties agreed to implement joint projects in the field of green energy, establish a dual degree program in Information Security, and set up joint centers in the areas of artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
In addition, the parties reached an agreement to establish a joint Silk Road Research Centre. This initiative is expected to make a significant contribution to expanding research activities, strengthening academic exchange, and further deepening international cooperation in the future.
During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of the existing sister-city relations between Urumqi and Nakhchivan. These relations provide a favorable basis for expanding cooperation in cultural and academic fields between the two cities. The meeting noted that the development of inter-university relations would contribute to further strengthening intercity partnership.
Subsequently, the Azerbaijani delegation toured Xinjiang University’s campus, as well as its Artificial Intelligence Centre and innovation laboratories.
