Baku, September 10, AZERTAC
In the 2025–2026 academic year, foreign students from nearly 120 countries studied at higher education institutions in Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Science and Education informed AZERTAC that the countries of origin of students choosing Azerbaijan for their education spanned regions beyond Asia and Africa. Alongside Türkiye, the People’s Republic of China, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Uganda, and Rwanda, young people from European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Lithuania, as well as the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia, also studied at Azerbaijani universities.
In the current academic year, students from various regions of the world are also being admitted to Azerbaijani higher education institutions and arriving in the country.
The choice of Azerbaijani universities by young people from various continents and countries demonstrates that the international reach of the country’s higher education sector is expanding.
Within the framework of the “Study in Azerbaijan” initiative, efforts continue to promote Azerbaijan’s higher education opportunities internationally, raise awareness of educational opportunities available to foreign students, and strengthen the country’s position as an international education destination.
