New co-chairman of US Congressional Caucus on Azerbaijan assumes office

Baku, March 5 (AZERTAC). A member of the Democratic Party, Congressman Daniel Boren assumed office as the co-chairman of the US Congressional Caucus on Azerbaijan in the House of Representatives, the Azerbaijani embassy in the US said.

Previous co-chair Solomon Ortiz`s term of congress membership expired in 2010.

Congressman Boren was born in 1973. He has graduated from the University of Texas and Oklahoma. He has been representing Oklahoma State in the Congress since 2005. Boren is a member of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources and United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

The congressman`s political career continues a family tradition. Boren`s father - David Boren, is former governor of Oklahoma and U.S. senator. At present, he is the rector of the University of Oklahoma and co-chairman of the U.S. President`s Intelligence Advisory Board. Daniel is a grandson of former congressman Lyle Boren.

The Caucus was established in the House of Representatives of the US Congress in 2004. Some 23 of 38 congressmen, included in the group, represent the Democratic Party, while 15 - Republican Party.
