Novruz holiday celebrated at UNESCO headquarters

The Novruz holiday jointly organized by permanent missions of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Mongolia and Turkmenistan was celebrated at the UNESCO headquarters.
The event was attended by the permanent representatives of UNESCO member countries, the organization`s Director-General Khaled El-Enany, representatives of the diplomatic corps, diaspora organizations and the local community.
Addressing the opening ceremony, on behalf of the 13 countries, Dilshod Kamolzoda Rahimi, Tajikistan's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, highlighted the spiritual importance of Novruz holiday.
The event featured fashion collection by national designer Leyla Babazade.
During the ceremony, the representatives from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan performed their national music and dances.
The visitors familiarized themselves with samples of national cuisines.
Novruz was included in the UNESCO`s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
