NSC PIPELINE NOT TO BE CONNECTED TO BTC
Z. Gumberidze said, “Georgia and Russia have never discussed the issue on connection of the pipeline Novorossiysk-Supsa-Ceyhan to the main export pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan designed to transport the Caspian oil to the world markets. We talked only about the construction of fully autonomous pipeline. The pipeline through which the Russian oil and maybe Kazakh oil will be transported from Novorossiysk to Turkish port Ceyhan passing by the Bosporus strait”
The diplomat said that if authors of this idea planned to use Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline they should come to agreement with the shareholders and owners of BTC pipeline. The ambassador’s statement corresponds to SOCAR’s comment. Neither SOCAR nor BP are related to the project of construction of Novorossiysk-Supsa-Ceyhan pipeline. NSC is in no way connected to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan MEP.
