“ODLAR YURDU” POPULARIZES AZERBAIJAN IN GERMANY
According to Jafar Jafarzadeh, the 2-year activity of the Society has resulted in its registration in the German Ministry of Justice. From the very beginning, the society focused on popularizing Azerbaijan, its national traditions and customs, letting Europeans know about the truth on Azerbaijan, spreading the peaceful policy of Azerbaijan, its domestic policy aimed at raising the people’s welfare.
It should be especially pointed out the role of “Azerbaijani House” opened in September this year towards in making the society’s activity more efficient. Along with numerous Azerbaijanis, the opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of the embassy of Azerbaijan to Germany and state committee for work with Azerbaijanis residing abroad. The society activists routinely mark national holidays and historical days of Azerbaijan. They make every effort to unveil the aggressive policy of Armenia, maintain the constant contact with Diaspora’s organizations in other countries. The closest ties were established with societies “Azerbaijan” in Netherlands and “Azeri” in Spain. The society is cooperating with the Society of Azerbaijani Jews “Mountainous Jews”, society “Jewish Nation”, Turkish and Russian societies and has managed to establish contacts with German office of the International Association of Peace Adherents, in particular with its president professor Veli Ismayilov.
The society has its wide outlooks. It is destined to make businessmen of Germany invest in Azerbaijani economy, to find partners for them in Azerbaijan, to boost the tourism between both countries, establish a museum “Azerbaijani Heritage” in Berlin, national dance ensemble. Unfortunately, there are some problems with supply the ensemble with national costumes. The society inquired about it from the Culture Minister seven months ago. However, things have come undone. The men of art who wish to come to Germany on tour can apply to the International Association of Peace Adherents (tel: 41-45-77). At present, a one-hour film on Azerbaijan is being made. It will be screened on six channels of Germany. The main purpose is to tell the truth about Garabagh and Khojali tragedy.
