OIC Parliamentary Union Conference wraps up in Baku

The 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States concluded in Baku on June 25.
The session, chaired by Rafael Huseynov, Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, heard and adopted the reports of the OIC Parliamentary Union Committees, while also reviewing other topical issues on the agenda.
Subsequently, the meeting saw the adoption of the Baku Declaration. The text of the declaration was read out by Azerbaijani MP Jeyhun Mammadov.
The declaration reaffirmed commitment to the objectives set out in the Charter of the OIC Parliamentary Union, as well as the obligation to respect the goals and principles of the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Charter of the United Nations, and international law.
At the same time, considering the numerous complex challenges and evolving threats facing states, including cyberattacks, terrorism, and the growing manifestations of Islamophobia, the declaration expressed profound concern about the negative impact of these threats on international peace and security, as well as on peaceful coexistence and social solidarity among Muslim communities worldwide.
In his remarks, Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the warm hospitality and high consideration extended to the conference participants.
In conclusion, Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Rafael Huseynov noted that the discussions held and the decisions adopted during the conference would contribute to enhancing cooperation among the OIC member states.
