OSCE ATTACHES GREAT IMPORTANCE TO CO-OP WITH AZERBAIJAN
In the course of meeting, Mr. Christian Shtrohal expressed his gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan for conditions set up for the ODIHR mission to observe presidential elections conducted in the Republic on 15 October, told on his impressions on the election process. Christian Shtrohal said that the Organization he represents would continue its efforts for development of democratic principles, establishment and strengthening of democratic institutions in the Country and adhere cooperation with the leadership of Azerbaijan in this direction.
Updating on the works conducted for democratic society building in the Republic, Minister Vilayat Guliyev said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the OSCE ODIHR. The Minister stressed the necessity of intensive continuation by this Organization the assistance for democratic reforms, strengthening of democratic institutions and improvement of election legislation in the country, gave a high assessment to its activity in this field.
Minister Vilayat Guliyev also underlined his dissatisfaction with some biased aspects of the Organization’s final report on the Presidential elections in Azerbaijan, stressed the necessity of reconsideration of the unchecked facts that the report included.
The parties had exchange of views on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
