PACE chief signs petition against French Senate`s pro-Armenian bill

Baku, January 28 (AZERTAC). President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Jean-Claude Mignon has signed a petition to be sent to France`s Constitutional Court in protest to the Senate`s passing a bill criminalizing the denial of the soc-called Armenian genocide.

Speaking to reporters, he said he voted against the adoption of the bill during voting at the French Senate.

Mignon also touched upon the PACE`s cooperation with Azerbaijan, saying the assembly attached a particular emphasis to developing it.

The PACE chief praised Azerbaijan`s activity within the Assembly.

On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mignon stressed the importance of working closely with both sides. He said he would visit Azerbaijan and Armenia to try to contribute to finding a solution to the dispute.
