Pakistan hails relations with Azerbaijan
Baku, August 26 (AZERTAC). Chairman of Pakistan`s Senate Farooq Naek praised his country`s relations with Azerbaijan.
Talking to the newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Dashgin Shikarov, Naek said “Pakistan greatly values its close brotherly relations with Azerbaijan which is based on shared historical, cultural and religious values”.
“The support that we extend to each other on different issues is the manifestation of our strong ties,” he added. Expressing his satisfaction over the close cooperation between the two countries in different fields, the chairman said the bilateral trade and economic cooperation can be greatly enhanced.
“Our two countries must jointly explore further avenues of cooperation in this field,” he added.
The Chairman appreciated Azerbaijan`s support to the cause of Kashmir and Pakistan`s endeavors for peaceful settlement of the dispute in accordance with a UN resolution.
Naek said Pakistan will continue to extend principled support to Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and other territories illegally occupied by Armenia.
Shikarov touched upon a forthcoming visit by Pakistan`s President to Azerbaijan. The ambassador added the 5th meeting of a join intergovernmental commission and a business forum will tke place as part of the visit. “This will boost the economic development of our countries,” he added.
Shikarov said Azerbaijan was keen to develop multi-faceted cooperation with Pakistan. The ambassador in particular stressed the necessity of launching a direct transport communication between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
Naek thanked the government of Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev for “financial and moral support” to the people of Pakistan during a 2005 quake and 2010 floods.
He also praised the construction by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation of a girls` school in Muzaffarabad.
Naek lauded the efforts of President of the Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva.
Shikarov vowed he would make every effort to contribute to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.
