Azerbaijan showcases its tourism potential at international exhibition in Kuala Lumpur

Azerbaijan was represented at the World Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo (WITEX) and the World Cultural & Arts Festival (WCAF), traditionally held at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
For the purpose of promoting Azerbaijan’s tourism potential and cultural heritage, a national Azerbaijani pavilion was presented at the exhibition, organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Malaysia.
Recognized as one of the prominent exhibitions dedicated to Islamic tourism, the event featured more than 100 national pavilions, including those of Malaysia, Japan, China, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.
At the opening ceremony, Puan Marhamah binti Rosli, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia, and Dato’ Sri Mohd Khalid Harun, President of the Malaysia Tourism Tourism Association (MATA) and Chairman of WITEX/WCAF, along with Malaysian officials and members of the diplomatic corps, visited the Azerbaijani pavilion and were briefed on the country’s cultural heritage and tourism opportunities.
Visitors to the Azerbaijani pavilion learned about the country’s culture, history, traditions, and tourism potential, while national costumes, carpets, kelaghayi, and other handicrafts were showcased.
As part of the WITEX Ministers and CEOs Summit, Sarkhan Ismayilov, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Malaysia, presented Azerbaijan’s tourism potential during a panel discussion. He spoke about the development of the tourism sector, tourism products and routes, UNESCO-listed cultural heritage, and winter tourism opportunities in Azerbaijan.
