Warmly greeting the guest, Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have a long history and that the Republic of Azerbaijan is keen in development of these links. Noting particular role of Bulgaria in restoration of the historic Silk Road, Mr. Murtuz Alaskarov highly appreciated the activeness and fair position of the Bulgarian observers at the recent presidential elections in the Republic.
Updating the guest on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Speaker of Milli Majlis stated that Azerbaijan is for solution of the problem in the frame of the norms of international law. He expressed the government of Bulgaria gratitude for the position it holds in the said question.
Expressing his gratitude for warm reception, Nikolay Svinarov on behalf of the speaker of parliament of his country invited Murtuz Alaskarov to visit Bulgaria. The guest noted that Bulgaria is also keen in development of relations with Azerbaijan. The key goal of his visit to Azerbaijan is to reach development of ties in the military field, as well as in other spheres. Emphasizing that since 2004 his country would preside at the OSCE, the Minister stressed that the official Sofia is for peaceful resolution to the conflict. In the period of presidency at the OSCE, Bulgaria would strive to settle the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
