Patriarch Bartholomew: We applaud religious tolerance in Azerbaijan
Istanbul, May 14, AZERTAC
Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, met with Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul.
Hailing the Patriarch’s efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and global peace, the Chairman highlighted the atmosphere of tolerance that has prevailed in Azerbaijan for centuries.
“Intercultural dialogue in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev is currently at its highest level. Our country is regarded as a center of interfaith and intercultural dialogue,” Pashazade emphasized.
Stressing that he has always applauded religious tolerance in Azerbaijan, Patriarch Bartholomew noted that the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Türkiye in November this year, would serve as a decisive platform for humanity.
The meeting also featured discussions on issues of mutual interest, followed by an exchange of commemorative gifts.
