PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV MEETS WITH PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA ROBERT KOCHARYAN
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participating in the World Summit of the Information Society in Geneva met, December 11, with President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan at hotel “Intercontinental”.The meeting begun in presence of OSCE Minsk group Co-chairs has been continued in a tкte-а-tкte format. Later on, the Minsk group Co-chairs joined the meeting again. With the meeting completed, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Robert Kocharyan of Armenia issued a joint statement for journalists saying that this meeting, which had a familiarization character, will promote mutual understanding. The presidents described the recommencement of the bilateral peace talks on the resolution of the Armenia –Azerbaijan conflict as a very positive step, and stressed that the opinions exchange had been useful. The president expressing confidence in further continuation of meetings, emphasized that both sides are interested in the problem’s settlements.
